During the summer of 2016, I decided I’d like to gain some experience in writing web content and in using social media marketing and search engine optimization (SEO) as marketing tools. In order to do so, I created my own blog, hellokymberlyann.com. The blog itself focuses on college tips, a topic near and dear to my heart as a current college student. However, the valuable SEO skills that I have learned while writing college-themed articles will transfer well to any topic.

In order to promote my blog, I learned as much as I could about social media marketing and applied those new skills. My Google Analytics data showed that most of my audience came from Pinterest, so I focused most of energy into promoting my blog through Pinterest. One example of this is the set of branded, Pinterest-ready images I created, an example of which can be seen in this screenshot. My marketing efforts were highly successful: I created my blog in June 2016, and by the end of August 2016, my blog had been viewed almost 60,000 times.

I have included this in my portfolio to demonstrate that I am an effective social media marketer. Additionally, I have valuable experience in writing for the web that will transfer to any field. I am highly motivated and not afraid to learn new things on my own.
